Message from the Board of Directors:The Board of Directors of Cypress Village Property Owner’s Association is charged with the responsibility of administering OUR Association. Each member is a property owner within the Association. Essentially, that is each Director is one of us. It’s a volunteer position with no benefits other than serving the community. At any given time, the Board has to balance the wishes and demands of the Members and direction from the State of Florida. Each Board member devotes considerable time to the duties required to administer one of the largest homeowner’s associations in the State. There are 4790 homes and very likely, about 10,000 residents. That’s the size of a village; we are larger than Crystal River. Our “village” is totally member owned, and member administered. That means YOU! We have a nine-member Board of Directors. At present we have three open seats on the Board; after the Annual Meeting, we will still have only six of the nine members, still having three vacant seats. We should also know, that, even after we fill those vacancies, only two members will have actually been elected. That means seven members will be on the Board either by appointment or by default. That cannot be acceptable. For members of the community to be fully invested in the community, we really do need members to step up and become agents of making the Association work for the members. And remember, you do have a considerable investment in Cypress Village…your home. CVPOA exists to protect YOUR investment. If we cannot have a fully staffed, functioning Board, the consequences are really things we do not wish to contemplate. Should that happen, the State could easily come in and appoint a receiver to conduct our business; that would be costly to all of us. Yes, there are other possibilities. We could reduce the Board from nine to five, but what does that accomplish? The only real solution remains for community volunteers to fill the nine seats on the Board. Yes, it takes personal time, valuable personal time; yes, there is considerable work; yes, sometimes you won’t get it right, and you will hear about it; yes, sometimes it’s a pain where you least need a pain and you will question why you decided to do it. So then, why do it? Because Cypress Village is an excellent place to make a home and deserves concerned members to help administer the community. |
